The Priyadarshini Mattoo Case
Background
Priyadarshini Mattoo was born on July 23rd, 1970 to father Chaman Lal Mattoo and mother Rageshwari Mattoo. She was born in India in the state of Kashmir, Srinagar. She went to The Presentation Convent School and once she finished school there she migrated with her parents to Jammu where she completed her undergraduate degree at MAM College. After this, she started law school at Dehli University.
She was described to be a beautiful and smart young woman who was extremely driven, well-mannered, and goal-oriented. She was also described to be very musically talented. She came from a talented family of musicians. She was said to be a very good singer and she was amazing at playing the guitar. Her friends described her as a “tom-boy.” They said she never really cared about men or getting their attention. She was just her own person. She was caring, kind, compassionate, and confident. The most important thing to her was to become a lawyer and change India’s corrupt justice system in any way she could.
