This is just my experience as a straight girl.

I feel as though there are mixed opinions on this subject and, I’m not even really sure what my set opinion is on this because up until recently, I had never actually asked a guy out.

There is this belief that is literally ingrained into my brain, “If a guy doesn’t like you at least a little bit more than you like him, then the relationship is doomed.” I don’t think this is true at all I know plenty of relationships where the girl asked the guy out first and they are still going strong many years later.

I acknowledge that there has been significant progress in women’s rights over the centuries. I know as a woman in this time I’m lucky to be able to do all the things I can do, and do them freely. I can date, work, go to school, and choose not to get married or have children.

However, I also know that even now there are communities that still have the same backdated views that they force their daughters, wives, and sisters to follow.

There are still numerous stigmas ingrained in our societies that women are still forced to follow because if…

For as long as I can remember I’ve struggled with my mental health. Throughout my life, there have been times when I’ve been afraid of my own thoughts and afraid of just being alone.

My intrusive thoughts would consume me.

Early Memories

The earliest memory I have of intrusive thoughts is from when I was about nine years old. The first…

A video began circulating the internet between 2013–2014. It was found in chat forums on different websites.

This video was a four-part “film” and each part was 10–15 minutes long. It was called “Daisy’s Destruction.”

The film was initially a myth on the dark web and people were talking about a horrifying and disturbing video circulating the internet. However, none of these people had actually seen this video so they didn’t know if it was real or not.

Unfortunately, upon further investigation by police, it was…

Building a relationship is not a straight line.

I’m a 23-year-old Hindu girl born in Canada so an arranged marriage is not at all appealing to me.

Honestly, I’ve been using dating apps for years now and I’ve had no luck in finding someone that I like or trust.

I’ve had a relationship here and there with men that I met off these apps but nothing has ever stuck. There were always issues that I never thought were worth working out.

Even while being in these said relationships I never really saw a future with these people. They always felt so temporary. …

When your partner doesn’t feel like being intimate with you it’s important to have a conversation and not an argument. If your partner has depression and you are aware of it, don’t ever try to make your partner feel bad about not wanting to be intimate with you.

Keep in mind that when someone is trying to fight the feelings that come with depression, it takes up every inch of energy they have left in them to do so.

People with depression will often have no desire to connect with another person on an intimate level.

Gaslighting is a form of psychological and emotional abuse where you manipulate someone into doubting or disbelieving their perceptions of reality, feelings, and even sanity.

With gaslighting, someone can deny visible facts and experiences.

What are the signs of Gaslighting?

  1. Constantly worrying that you are interpreting things wrong and feeling like you’re overreacting.
  2. Thinking everything that happens is your fault.
  3. Their actions don’t match their words.
  4. They constantly shift the blame onto you even if it’s something they did.
  5. They insult you sometimes and praise you other times.
  6. They make you feel confused about memories, experiences, and facts.

What can Gaslighting sound like?

  1. “You’re Crazy.”
  2. “You’re so sensitive”
  3. “You’re so dramatic.”

I don’t understand why people think it’s okay to pry into others’ lives. Especially into extremely personal things like pregnancy.

Whether you have children or not you know that having and raising a child is a huge decision and a lifetime responsibility.

Us women are constantly pressured to get married and have children within a certain time frame because as my grandma would say “your biological clock is ticking”.

A Woman’s Career Goals Aren’t Celebrated Enough

It’s absurd to me that a woman’s achievements and career goals are not celebrated at the same level as when she is engaged, married, or pregnant.

Don’t get me wrong I…
